CREATIVE COMPUTING

This course is designed for teachers who would like to teach their students
creative computing.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

  • Explain the benefits of teaching students how to program with Scratch.

  • Create a variety of Scratch projects that include sprites, sounds, math operations, variables, and logic.

  • Use and manage the various Scratch account features including "sharing" and "remixing" activities.

  • Develop Lesson Plans for Scratch Activities that are in alignment with the Common Core

  • Improve the critical thinking and problem solving skills.

  • Enables the learner to design mobile apps , interactive games and web pages.

  • Teaches concepts of big data , privacy , internet , physical computing.

CURRICULUM

MODULE 1


  • CODING - Introduction to coding and creative computing
  • PROBLEM SOLVING AND COMPUTING - How computers input, output, store, and process information
  • DIGITAL INFORMATION – Introduction - Importance
  • INTERNET - How the Internet was designed - Different protocols of the Internet – Impact of Internet on modern life.




MODULE 2


SCRATCH PROGRAMMING –Familiarization with the platform – Introduction to blocks – Small projects using scratch – Remixing and sharing projects online – Self-help- challenges.




MODULE 3


CODE.ORG – Introduction – Familiarization with the platform – Algorithms - Sequencing – Loops – Conditionals – Hour Of Code.




MODULE 4


  • APP DESIGN - Introduction to programming and app design - Debugging, pair programming, and user testing - Design user interfaces and write event-driven programs in App Lab.

  • INTERACTIVE ANIMATIONS AND GAMES - Build program animations, interactive art, and games in Game Lab - Develop a personalized, interactive program – Design process.

  • DATA AND SOCIETY - Importance of data in solving problems and highlights how computers can help in this process - Learn how collections of data are used to solve problems, and how computers help to automate the steps of this process.




MODULE 5


  • PHYSICAL COMPUTING - Explores the role of hardware platforms in computing - Develop programs that utilize the same hardware inputs and outputs that you see in the smart devices.

  • CYBERSECURITY AND GLOBAL IMPACTS - Learn how computing innovations have impacted our world in beneficial and harmful ways - Learn how data can pose a threat to our privacy and security, and the ways that encryption and other techniques are used to complete it.





PREREQUISITES

  • Participants are required to complete graduation or studying in university.

  • Participants are required to use a desktop or laptop computer for this course.

Course Duration : 10 Hours

Course Fees : 

Material + Exam Fee + Certification included in price.

EVALUATION :

  • There will be an assessment test at the end of the session .

  • A main project will be given to the student.

  • Based on the test and project grades will be calculated.

  • Test and project will be assessed together for a total of 50 marks, in which 30 marks are for the test and the balance 20 marks are for the project.

  • The minimum grade required to pass the examination will be C.
